One in five graduates work in the area where they studied, data reveals
The study from Graduate Outcomes found graduates from Scotland were most likely to have lived, studied and worked all in the same local authority at 16.4%.
One in five graduates working in the UK stayed in the same area where they studied, according to a new study from Graduate Outcomes.
The study looked at UK and international graduates 15 months after leaving higher education.
The research showed 17% of graduates from England worked in the same local authority where they studied.
For international graduates, the figure was 23%.
In Wales, 24% of graduates stayed in the same area, while in Northern Ireland it was 29% and in Scotland 35%.
Many of those who studied and worked in the same local authority were based in major UK cities.
Graduates from Scotland were most likely to have lived, studied and worked all in the same local authority at 16.4%, followed by Yorkshire and the Humber at 13.6%.
The lowest figure was in London, with only 1.4% staying in the same local authority, due to its smaller size and easier transport links across the city.
