More employers formalise health and wellbeing strategies amid growing workforce pressures – Aon
In its latest UK Benefits and Trends Survey, 41% of HR and benefits professionals said their company already had a formal health and wellbeing strategy.
Aon has reported that more UK employers are putting formal health and wellbeing strategies in place as workforce health pressures rise.
In its latest UK Benefits and Trends Survey, 41% of HR and benefits professionals said their company already had a formal health and wellbeing strategy, with another 31% planning to introduce one.
Most said they believe employers should play an active role in supporting health and wellbeing, and 94% of organisations strongly agreed they have a responsibility to influence employee health.
The survey found that demand for private medical cover is growing, putting pressure on claims and pricing.
Nearly a quarter of employers have added or increased the excess on medical policies in the last five years.
At the same time, 28% of organisations have increased the benefits in their medical schemes, and 15% plan to do so in the next 12 to 18 months.
The report showed that health and wellbeing strategies are now seen as essential, rather than a ‘nice to have’.
The most common areas included in these strategies are emotional and mental health, physical health, financial wellbeing and social or community support.
