HETA celebrates apprentice achievements at 2026 awards

HETA marked the achievements of its latest apprentices with a packed awards night in Hull, celebrating their progress into engineering roles across the region. 

Seven apprentices and their supporters were recognised for their work, with attendees including apprentices, families, employers, sponsors, and HETA trustees. 

Iain Elliott, CEO of HETA, said: “It was genuinely wonderful to see so many people celebrating together. 

“Events like this are incredibly important. Our learners arrive with little knowledge of their chosen trade, and through commitment, effort and support they develop into skilled, capable professionals, vital components of our regional and national industrial base.”

The event was held at The Village Hotel, with Dave Laister, director at Fred Marketing, hosting. 

Toby Overy won the Fabrication and Welding Apprentice Award for the second year running, representing CCL Fleet Management in Grimsby. 

Overy said: “It really meant a lot seeing the hard work recognised. HETA has been so supportive throughout the apprenticeship, not just through the first year, and the team that goes out to employer sites has been really good.”

Finlay Bindoff, completing his apprenticeship with Reckitt in Hull, took the Special Recognition Award.
