Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service has today, 1st April 2026, opened recruitment for on-call firefighters.
The role is open to people from all backgrounds, and no previous firefighting experience is required.
Successful applicants will receive full training, ongoing support, and the chance to develop important life-saving skills.
The role is designed to fit around existing commitments such as work, self-employment, study, or family life.
It is a paid role, offering the opportunity to make a difference in the local community.
Applicants need to live or work within eight minutes of their local fire station, hold a full UK manual driving licence, be willing to train and maintain fitness, respond when called, and be reliable and committed.
