The Brilliant Club, a charity focused on widening access to higher education, has appointed Susie Whigham (pictured) as chief executive officer (CEO).
Whigham takes over from Anne-Marie Canning.
She has worked at the charity for nearly 10 years, most recently as interim CEO.
Before this, Whigham was chief programmes and communities officer, leading delivery of projects such as the Scholars Programme, which reached almost 100,000 young people in the current Join the Club strategy.
She also developed support for students to become “uni ready” and led the Parent Power initiative.
Before joining the Brilliant Club, Whigham was executive director of services at School-Home Support, managing programmes to tackle barriers to learning in the home and working with the Department for Education (DfE) on the parent support advisor initiative.
Whigham said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed as CEO of The Brilliant Club.
“Since 2011, the charity has supported almost 150,000 students across the UK to access leading universities, boosting academic attainment and setting young people up to thrive in higher education and beyond.
