The Government set out plans to merge the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) into a new single industry training board (ITB).

The move aims to make it easier for employers to get the workers they need and to improve workforce planning and productivity.

A 12-week consultation is now open, with employers, training providers and other stakeholders across England, Scotland and Wales invited to give their views.

The consultation closes on 14th June 2026.

The Government said the merger would mean clearer routes into skilled work, more training and better use of funding.

“Their workforces build our homes, power our communities and lay the foundations for growth.
