Compass launches virtual work experience module in partnership with Youth Employment UK

The programme is aimed at young people in schools aged 14 to 18, letting them learn about careers at Compass and across hospitality, foodservice and support services.

Compass launches virtual work experience module in partnership with Youth Employment UK

Compass Group UK & Ireland has launched a new virtual work experience module, working with Youth Employment UK. 

The programme is aimed at young people in schools aged 14 to 18, letting them learn about careers at Compass and across hospitality, foodservice and support services.

Hosted on Youth Employment UK’s platform, the module gives students access to digital activities, employer insights and real-world scenarios. 

Students can find out about apprenticeships and early careers programmes. 

Compass is also using the platform to reach schools in ‘Left Behind’ areas, in partnership with Chartwells Schools, which is part of its education sector.

Feedback from the pilot will be used to improve the module before a wider roll out in September. 

In that second phase, Compass will work with Futures For All, a social mobility charity, to reach more young people through remote learning. 

This programme forms part of Compass’ ‘Classroom to Careers’ plan, giving students early insights into the sector and the chance to do in-person work experience.

The activity supports Compass’ wider target to positively impact one million people by 2030 through its ‘Our Social Promise’ initiative. 

This includes the ‘Get In’ pillar, which focuses on helping people, especially those facing socio-economic disadvantage, into employment.

“We are excited to support their brand‑new Classroom to Careers programme, offering young people the opportunity to explore work with one of the UK’s largest employers.

“The annual Youth Voice Census tells us time and time again that too many young people lack confidence in their skills and miss out on key work experience opportunities.”

Rawlings added: “Through this partnership, we’re raising aspirations, supporting important milestones, and showcasing what meaningful employer commitment in the food and support services sector can look like. 

“By making these resources freely available for all young people and educators, we hope more young people will have the confidence to explore new opportunities as they take their next steps from the classroom to fulfilling careers.”
