58% of leaders said artificial intelligence (AI) increases organisational productivity, while 62% of employees agreed, according to data from Zellis.

The report, ‘The Grey Zone: The Untapped Advantage of AI Alignment’, found 62% of leaders said they were confident their organisation’s senior leaders knew how to use AI effectively, compared to 45% of employees.

On wellbeing, 59% of leaders said AI reduces work-related stress, compared to 51% of employees.

Leaders were more likely to say AI should be used for deciding promotions and pay (35%) and performance reviews and appraisals (38%).

Employees preferred AI to help remove the burden of administrative tasks, like entering or checking data (44%), and managing attendance and scheduling (41%).

Additionally, Zellis found that better alignment between leaders and employees when using AI could free up £40bn in staff time value and unlock £20bn a year in operating cost savings.

Reducing the grey zone of misalignment could also free up 1.7 billion hours of staffing time every year.
