Tructyre to invest further in employee health and safety
This comes after the implementation of initiatives designed to further protect its technicians, both onsite and on the road.
Tructyre, the truck tyre specialist and supplier of HGV tyre maintenance services, is planning to further invest in its commitment to the health and safety of its employees.
This followed the implementation of initiatives designed to further protect its technicians, both onsite and on the road.
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), manual handling injuries are the most common type of injury in tyre removal and replacement, making up nearly half of all incidents in the industry.
Injuries from hand tools, such as tire levers, account for a quarter of reported incidents.
Other serious risks of tyre-related work include severe injuries or even fatalities from compressed-air accidents and tire explosions, crush injuries from unexpected vehicle movement or the collapse of jacks, and being struck by traffic, especially when working on motorways.
These can be compounded with working conditions such as bad weather, awkward positions, and poor lighting.
Tructyre said, as a service provider, it places a focus on protecting its technicians and is always looking for continuous development in this area.
Tructyre has rolled out multiple initiatives this year, for example, regularly holding in-person field talks with managers and technicians to foster two-way feedback and promote open discussions about welfare, safety, and operational challenges.
