Amicus Law appoints new head of employment

Amicus Law has appointed Slade De Lacey (pictured) as head of employment, a new role that adds to the firm’s commercial law team and supports expansion across the South West. 

De Lacey brings over 20 years’ experience in employment law, including tribunal representation, dispute resolution, HR advice and training.

De Lacey will lead a series of free in-person employment law seminars, called ‘Amicus Law Employment Bites’, aimed at helping local employers understand new workplace rules. 

The events start on 5th November in Exeter and will be held across the firm’s nine offices, including Bridgwater, Taunton, Minehead, Weymouth, Wellington, Yeovil, Martock and Ilminster. 

The first sessions will cover upcoming changes to employment law such as day-one rights for unfair dismissal, flexible working, new protections for zero-hours workers, and increases to the National Living Wage and statutory payments.

De Lacey said: “I’m delighted to join the team at Amicus Law and to be leading such an important initiative so early in my role. 

“The upcoming changes to employment law will have a significant impact on both employers and employees, and these ‘Amicus Law Employment Bites’ lunch sessions are designed to provide a safe, open space for discussion and collaboration. 

“I’m really looking forward to meeting HR leaders from across the region to share the updates and explore how they can manage these shifts to ensure their businesses and employees are well-prepared for the new landscape of workers’ contractual rights.”
