Ealing council impacted by protests amid traffic warden dispute
As a group, the traffic wardens have called for their union, Unite, to be recognised for collective bargaining on their behalf.
Striking Ealing traffic wardens are to protest outside Ealing council’s headquarters from today, Tuesday 4th March.
Traffic wardens employed by Greener Ealing have been participating in industrial action since August 2024, regarding the council-controlled company’s refusal to recognise their union, Unite.
According to the Unite, four wardens have been sacked on “trumped up charges” while they were taking strike action.
As a group, the traffic wardens have called for Unite to be recognised for collective bargaining on their behalf.
This follows the news reported by London Evening Standard earlier this month that managers citing Greener Ealing policy are threatening to discipline staff who do not issue 10 or 11 parking tickets a shift.
The workers were previously employed by Serco before being transferred to Greener Ealing Ltd in April 2024, after council members backed their campaign to have the service insourced.
Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “These workers have been badly let down by local politicians, who also owe the public an explanation about rip off parking ticket targets.
“Unite will not stop until union-busting at Greener Ealing is stamped out.
